John DeLiso is one of our Adult BJJ instructor.  He began his martial arts journey in New Jersey at the New Brunswick Police Athletic League under the instruction of Howard Davis Jr., a professional boxer and gold medalist.

John began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2004 with Christopher Brough at Elite Martial Arts in Old Bridge, New Jersey and by 2012 he received his brown belt at Advanced Martial Arts from black belt Brian Katz.  John earned his BJJ black belt under Professor Geoff Balme in 2021 at Open Guard BJJ in Apex, NC.

In 2017, John started teaching Kids and Adult BJJ at Satori Academy, in Edison NJ, where he was asked to be a stand-in instructor to assist with their expanding BJJ program.  John received his fourth-degree brown belt at Satori Academy in 2019 from Marcio Bittencourt, a professional MMA fighter of Fight Club Jiu-Jitsu and fourth-degree black belt.

John retired from the New Brunswick, NJ police department in 2019 after serving twenty-five years as a police officer.  He recently moved to North Carolina with his family.  He enjoys training with his younger son who shares his passion for BJJ.  In his spare time, John is an avid bonsai artist who collects and develops trees.
