Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Our Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program is taught by multiple BJJ Black Belt instructors with decades of experience and knowledge at the highest levels of the sport.  They will be on the mat training with you, providing valuable personal feedback to help you progress.

If you are new to BJJ, we welcome you to try our BJJ Fundamentals program, so you can get acclimated to the basics of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

HOW WE WORK

Our instructors plan a monthly curriculum.  Each week, we work on a set of techniques, building upon the previous week’s lessons.

Each technique consists of multiple ways to set up a submission, and various ways to defend and counter it.  We then drill these techniques, always building upon the previous week’s lessons.

Our Saturday open mat gives our team the ability to practice everything they’ve learned that week.

The last day Saturday of each month, the instructor does a Q&A to make sure everyone thoroughly understands what they learned.  We then participate in an open mat sparring session where the instructor can measure each students progress to determine if a student is ready for promotion.

What To Expect

When you attend an Adult BJJ class, you’ll begin with a 15-minute warm-up.

The instructor will then demonstrate one of several techniques that you’ll drill with your partner, as the instructor evaluates your technique.

You’ll continue drilling with a partner until you feel comfortable with the technique, and then they will add resistance.  Learning how to apply a submission and quickly adapt when it’s defended provides valuable insight into this technical martial art.

At the end of class, you’ll participate in open mat sparring while the instructor continues evaluating your technique.

If You're New to Our Program

If you have experience in BJJ, but this is your first time working with us, an instructor will likely pair you with an experienced partner to assess your skill level.  This will give him/her a baseline to build a plan to improve your game.

Try a free trial class and we’re sure you’ll find a home at Apex Martial Arts Center.  We look forward to seeing you on the mat!
